there are a limited number restaurants that have a limited amount of waste oil…
I have a food business in a small town and people are competing for our old oil…..

That is like saying, "we can go down to the stream and catch fish and we don't have to pay for food"
Good idea! we can all go down to the stream for our food.

Biodiesel is amazing, soon i will save over $4000 a year in fuel costs.

croakerchoker504 @ 3:29 pm:

Refining waste oil from restaurants into biodiesel could save people like me over $4000 a year in fuel costs, producing it for a little more than 70 cents/gallon. And you can also pick up extra money from the restaurants than give you the waste oil by competing with the (vacuum truck) companies that already offer this service. Creating Biodiesel is really amateur chemistry, and quite simple.

Obviously you do not not understand biodiesel. Most biodiesel is made from recycled oil. Also, you omit that many farmers are paid NOT to grow certain crops. If more old oil was recycled and farmers were paid to grow crops for biodiesel maybe you too would be paying $1.70 for your gas. Educate yourself on this.

It is a scam to raise corn prices here create food shortages and wipe out the rainforest-people are stooges. If bush says its good, maybe you people shold reconsider…damn, another scam run on unwitting people

When I watch him I can almost smell the pipe. Any idiot that thinks you can take a finite supply (food crops) and an infinite demand (fuel) and cause anything other than a food economic disaster is dillusional.

try a 50% bio blend with 50% petro diesel. I have also heard that canola oil is pretty good for winter blends, but it might just be a rumor. And dont try to buy something labeled as a "anti-gelling" additive. none of them work for biodiesel that well. Whatever you do, stick a sample of your blend in the freezer overnight to make sure it will work. if any wax forms, dont use it.

the new golf (rabbit) is a 2.0 liter diesel with electric hybrid. it is pretty sweet. I would consider getting one if they release it in the USA. But, i already own a Yaris so i'm not gonna reduce my fuel useage by much :P

March 27, 2009

Rikiru @ 7:11 am:

yup, alongside the algae photobiorecator (co2 sequestration, carbon neutral energy) we will have a sweet supply of biodiesel, ethanol, and coal powerplant material: all from algae

WGwookie @ 11:13 am:

They recently found that through anaerobic fermentation that glycerine can be turned into ethanol.

March 31, 2009

fenderrfan @ 4:58 pm:

We have the ability to run this material in our cars and heat our homes. Pellet stoves can burn corn. Why then can we not support American farmers so that their way of life supports our way of life. Are we not yet tired of those who wish to impose control over us to protect their profits? My cost of living raise goes elsewhere. I'd rather give it to farmers than oil companies. Sorry Willie for venting.

H4X0R081 @ 9:26 am:

ethanol and biodiesel are two different things. ethanol is just alcohol, which is currently derived from corn. E85 is 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline. It is a substitute for gasoline while biodiesel is a substitute for diesel.

i read in popular mechanics that vw is making diesel that can get 75 MPG!

hi we need to put this fuel on the market . are country is falling into a trap with oil , and if we can do 30% of biofeul and make are cars run 30 too 40 miles to the gal, we need too help are self , not wait until other country have a rope around are heads

Texas Stays Biodiesel Execution
Texas environmental officials have delayed a proposed ban of biodiesel fuel in the state to allow further studying of the emissions of biodiesel blends.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality says that blending 20 percent (B20) or more of biodiesel with diesel fuel.
Ban PetrolDiesel.

April 21, 2009

coolsmurfen @ 3:01 am:

bio diesel is 85% ethinol and 15% gasoline.

April 24, 2009

cydonianman @ 1:00 pm:

i heard of E85 fuel? what is that? ethinol and gasoline?

April 27, 2009

markstender @ 4:34 am:

Every state can consider a mandatory biodiesel blend for their diesel fuel. So far, only Minnesota has done it, and theirs is a 2% blend. Where are you Gov Arnold of CA? Let's stop funding Saudi's who hate us folks. Keep a little of your fuel money in the USA.

April 28, 2009

Levesque999 @ 8:08 pm:

Well it can at least help the famer out.

And different biofuel can be used for different things.

Plastics for example.
